Sustainability and social responsibility
How Q-Interline supports and contributes to the United Nation’s sustainable development goals
All the 17 UN sustainable development goals are meaningful to Q-Interline.
We focus, however, on the goals where we believe we can make an impact. We make a difference by providing technology, knowledge, and tools for our customers to produce dairy, food, feed, beverages, and agricultural products in a more sustainable way. We work specifically to make a difference within
- Goal 2: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
- Goal 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
- Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
Below we describe how we support and contribute to these three UN development goals:
Goal 2
End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
By using Q-Interline’s FT-NIR analysers, producers in the agricultural industry can analyse both the soil and the crops they grow. This allows them to improve the production efficiency and lower the number of fertilizers. Also, they can increase the production volume without increasing the space used for the production.
Our analysers can be used to determine the nutritional composition in the feed and forage. With this knowledge, the agricultural sector can optimize the feeding of their animals, producing meat and dairy products in a more sustainable way.
This way we contribute to target 2.3 – see below for description
Target 2.3
Double the productivity and incomes of small-scale food producers
By 2030, double the agricultural productivity and incomes of small-scale food producers, in particular women, indigenous peoples, family farmers, pastoralists and fishers, including through secure and equal access to land, other productive resources and inputs, knowledge, financial services, markets and opportunities for value addition and non-farm employment.
Goal 9
Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Q-Interline A/S invests a lot of money in developing innovative technology for a growing number of industries. With our FT-NIR technology our customers in dairy, agriculture, food & ingredients, pharma, and chemical can gain valuable insights in their production processes, ensuring product quality both in their raw material and the final product. This also ensures the best utilization of raw materials. At the same time, they can use our analytical solutions to lower energy consumption, which is both a win for their production costs as well as for the environment. Q-Interline therefore contributes to more sustainable production across several industries.
Q-Interline continues to develop new solutions to reach more and more segments.
This way we contribute to target 9.4 – see below for description.
Target 9.4
Upgrade all industries and infrastructures for sustainability
By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource-use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes, with all countries taking action in accordance with their respective capabilities.
Goal 12
Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
With Q-Interline’s InSight Pro solution for in-line process optimization our customers get a continuous control of their production process and utilization of their raw material.
Our customers will be able to react fast if changes in the production occur. This makes the production more sustainable as they can avoid waste of product. They can also reduce production pauses, which requires more energy starting back up the production. They can optimally utilize the raw material without compromising product quality.
After cleaning the production line, the pipes are normally flushed with product to ensure no cleaning materials are left. Using the InSight Pro analytical solution, our customers can monitor and control exactly how much flushing is needed and thereby ensure less product waste.
This way we contribute to target 12.3 – see below for description
Target 12.3
Halve global per capita food waste
By 2030, halve per capita global food waste at the retail and consumer levels and reduce food losses along production and supply chains, including post-harvest losses.
Working with ESG – Environmental, Social, and Governance – is an integrated part of Q-Interline’s vision and company foundation
Sustainability and social responsibility will in the coming years get an increasing focus in the Q-Interline company strategy as well as in our products, services, and operations. We are aware of the importance of taking care of our planet and we acknowledge that all initiatives are important.
With Q-Interline’s analytical solutions our customers get valuable insights into their production. This can help them use less energy, optimize the production process, and get the most out of their raw material. Even small improvements in production can lead to huge differences in how much end product they get out of their raw material – as our large customers have a large production.
This way Q-Interline, despite being a small company, can have a large impact on treating the world’s resources and raw material with respect.
The Board of Directors has agreed upon the below ESG goals to be reached before end of 2030:
- CO2 discharge after scope 1 and 2 to be same level as today, even though the company grows
- The percentage of female employees, also in Management and Board, should be no less than 40%.
We announce this percentage annually. According to the Annual Report 2022, we have 34 % female employees, 20 % in the management team, and 25 % in the Board of Directors. See our Annual Report in our Investor site
- Q-Interline is to be CO2 neutral
